GETTING TO KNOW: ALISON NOLL

Alison is one of our newest coaches at Trumbull Racquet Club in Trumbull, CT. She has been coaching here for six months and has previously coached down in Florida. From now until June 13, there is a special introductory rate for private lessons $80/hour.

Q: How often do you teach lessons?

A: I give lessons six days out of the week, Tuesday – Sunday to players of all ages; tiny tots, juniors, high schoolers, adults.

Q: What is your favorite part about coaching?

A: I love being able to build the connections with the people I’m coaching. Getting to know them on a more personal level, outside of their tennis interest, has really helped me cultivate the coach-to-player relationship. This helps both parties relate to each other more and form a meaningful foundation.

Q: What factors contributed to your love for tennis?
A: I started playing tennis around 5 or 6 years old. My brother, who’s 9 years older than me, was always playing in junior tournaments, high school tournaments, and college tournaments, so I always had that sibling rivalry in my head to be better than him.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you?

A: When I graduated high school, I had planned to start playing Division I tennis right away, but I ended up staying at a local college where I won two national single championships. I then transferred colleges and pursued my collegiate dream playing division tennis and I loved it.

Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: “Start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can” Former Professional Tennis Player, Arthur Ashe. I love this quote because no matter where you are in life, whether you’re playing tennis or not, you can push yourself in that moment, do what you can, and move forward.
