Going Beyond the Mask

You might have seen a story in the news recently about a health club trainer unknowingly exposing 50 athletes to coronavirus, with none of the 50 becoming sick or testing positive for the virus. No one else got sick! How can that be?

It is because of next-level health measures that some facilities are investing in around the country. In the case of the gym referenced above, it was because of a total air ventilation system redesign.

For most tennis players, we recognize the need for the utmost safety while playing tennis to keep yourself and each other healthy and free from contracting or spreading Covid-19. This becomes especially important indoors, since during winter months it is where the sport is played in most areas of the country.

It goes without saying that depending on where you play, and depending on what State and town you live in, you should follow the guidance of the State and local officials. This usually includes some combination of social distancing, wearing face coverings, limiting group sizes, the taking of temperatures prior to coming to the facility, and more. Not to mention using basic common sense!

But there is one more thing that doesn't get talked about nearly as much as it should: the measures some indoor tennis facilities have taken to actively improve air quality by continuously disinfecting the air you breathe and the surfaces you touch.

This is perhaps THE most important part of staying healthy and away from coronavirus while playing tennis this season.

One such technology, AtmosAir, works to attack and neutralize over 99.92% of coronavirus particles. Clubs in Fairfield and Darien use this technology in particular. It's a game-changer. Other clubs around the State of Connecticut use similar technologies too.

As a player, you should check to see what measures your club is taking to clean the air you breathe. We believe this to be as important, if not more important, than the measures most of us are already doing.

The benefits are found in how continuous disinfection can work for us during these times. AtmosAir's system completely recycles all air particles in a facility every 15 minutes. Guess how long you need to be exposed to coronavirus for in order to catch it? 15 minutes. Again, it's a game-changer and not something just a mask can do alone.

Plus, if you're playing tennis for 90 minutes, you're breathing completely new, disinfected, clean air 6 times. You can tell the difference almost right away in your breathing and endurance.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay committed to breathing the best air you can.
